Copper Coil Paving the Way for Electricity Alternative
Has the exorbitant bottom line on your electric bill ever had you wishing you could devise your own source of power? Well, one man is endeavoring to do just that, and copper coil is lying at the foundation for him to be able to do so. As the Tribune Papers collective recently reported, the man's invention, a power machine, "could be the answer to the high cost of electricity." Other than the monetary outlay that goes into building the machine, supplemental or emergency electricity is generated at almost no cost thereafter, leading experts to laud it as "a major breakthrough towards energy self-sustainability." How did the man, who wants his identity to remain secret, accomplish this energy- and cost-saving feat? With just a few simple components, that's how. According to the newspaper, the power machine is made up of "a long 4-inch PVC tube, used to mount four rows of magnets. Beneath each set of magnets is a copper coil." Once the flip is switched and the motor begins to spin, the magic starts happening.
And none of this prestidigitation could happen without the copper coils. In fact, it is the interaction between the magnets and the coil that is responsible for creating direct current electricity. Here is how the homemade electric generator works. The exterior of a spinning shaft of magnets is wrapped with a set of copper coil. The interaction that takes place between the magnets and the coil "generates electricity to recharge the marine battery running the machine." But the invention doesn't just power itself. The copper coils underneath the spinning shaft also generate their own electricity. This electricity "passes to another marine battery which then feeds it to a DC to AC inverter and makes it usable for any 120-volt AC devices in the house." And voila! Usable energy! If the whole thing sounds space agey, it really isn't. The only wonder is that someone didn't think of the idea sooner.
That's because physicists have always known that the flow of electricity through a copper coil generates a magnetic field. Indeed, according to the experts at the European Copper Institute, "Copper (lies) at the core of Renewable Energies." This 18-page report outlines various ways to exploit renewable energies. In particular, it addresses copper's contribution to both solar power and wind power. Among the report's highlights is a solar glass innovation. More specifically, a Franco-German firm has developed "solar thermal glass for the production of household hot water and heating." As with the aforementioned power machine, that glass incorporates copper coil as part of its design.
The built-in solar cell that is part of the glass's construction is made up of "a copper coil within which circulates a gas that accumulates and conveys heat." In the very near future you just might find that heat keeping your home warm in the summer. You may also soon discover your electricity bills plummeting thanks to self-sustaining power. And when that day arrives, you will owe all of this money saving and environmental friendliness to good old copper coil.
